parmesan crusted tilapia

This tilapia recipe is unbelievably fast and simple to make.  It is so full of flavor and can be paired with almost anything!  While the recipe calls for tilapia, any firm-fleshed fish can by used, such as grouper (shown above) or catfish.
Servings 4-6
Total Time 20 min

  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2-3 pounds of tilapia (any firm-fleshed white fish will work, grouper is what I found fresh caught)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt (or kosher)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of fresh ground pepper
  • 1/2 cup of butter (1 stick)
  • 1 lemon to squeeze over fish

Combine the parmesan cheese and paprika on a plate.

Season the fish with salt and pepper.

Heat the butter over medium heat in a cast iron skillet (if you don't have cast iron, any non-stick skillet will work).  Dredge the salt and peppered fish in the cheese mixture and then add to the skillet.

Cook the fish 5 minutes per side, until they are opaque all the way through.  The cooking time will vary greatly according the what kind of fish you are able to get and it's thickness.

Serve with fresh squeezed lemon.  Enjoy!!
